Translation has given the world the opportunity to enlarge knowledge and has given access to authors of different nationalities. Even though, without the magnificent task translators do to bring massive content, we wouldn’t have been able to read the most prodigious authors of all times, there’s a line the cannot overpass frontiers.
Reference to places, habits and more precisely, the way of living and referring to different things can usually get lost with the translation. Inspecting the original language of a book, you may find the difference and understand exactly what the writer intended to say. Those gaps will always exist from culture to culture and can only be reduced by the closeness you get at knowing the culture and reading the hidden meaning in the words expressed in its original language.
Unfortunately, we cannot know all existing languages by a click in our heads so despite those ‘uncovered secrets’ you may find in a book, we must be grateful in all means to have a book translated into your own language.
Get the chance, take the risk and start reading in others languages. You will not only learn and expand your mind but also discover a way of thinking that is beyond you as of today.
